Terms of Service

Last updated September 17, 2026

These terms cover detailing work booked with Clean Slate Auto Detailing through this website. Booking an appointment means you agree to them. We've written them the way we actually work — no surprises on the day.

What we do

Clean Slate is a mobile detailing business. We come to you anywhere in Bozeman & Missoula, Montana, and surrounding areas. There's no shop to drop your vehicle at.

Bookings and deposits

  • The price you see when you book is the price for the work you selected, based on your vehicle's size. It isn't an estimate.
  • A deposit of 50% is charged through Stripe when you book. Your appointment is confirmed once that deposit is paid.
  • The remaining balance is due when the work is finished.
  • Prices include our travel within the service area. We'll agree any charge for longer trips with you before we book them.

If your vehicle isn't what we expected

Pricing assumes the vehicle is in roughly the condition described when booking. If it turns out to need substantially more work — heavy pet hair, biohazard, extreme neglect, oversized or heavily modified vehicles — we'll show you the difference and give you the choice to approve the revised price, scale the work back, or reschedule. We never add charges without telling you first.

Rescheduling, cancellations and no-shows

  • Reschedule or cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your appointment — the deposit is refunded in full or moved to the new date, whichever you prefer.
  • Inside 24 hours, the deposit covers the slot we held for you and isn't refundable, though we'll always try to move you instead.
  • If nobody is there and the vehicle isn't accessible when we arrive, that counts as a late cancellation.
  • If we have to cancel or reschedule — weather, illness, equipment — you get the full deposit back or a new date, your choice. We'll never leave you out of pocket for something at our end.

What we need on the day

  • Safe, legal parking with room to work around the whole vehicle, and permission to work there if it's a workplace, apartment complex or HOA.
  • Keys or access to the vehicle for the length of the appointment.
  • Weather we can work in. Some services — coatings especially — need shelter and a stable temperature. We'll tell you in advance if your booking needs a garage or covered space.
  • Please remove personal belongings, valuables and child seats you'd like left untouched before we start.

Your vehicle's condition

We inspect before we start and point out anything we find. We're not responsible for pre-existing damage — failing clear coat, previous poor bodywork, rock chips, cracked trim, worn or torn upholstery, aftermarket wraps and films, or mechanical and electrical faults — or for damage that surfaces because of it.

Detailing is honest work, not magic. Paint correction removes defects within the limits of the paint that's there; some scratches, etching and wear can't be removed safely, and we'll tell you that before we start rather than after. Odors and stains that have soaked into padding or headliners may improve without disappearing.

We are not responsible for personal items left in the vehicle.

Coatings and aftercare

Ceramic coatings are applied to manufacturer specification and come with aftercare instructions. Their life depends on how the vehicle is washed, stored and driven — automatic brush washes, harsh chemicals and neglect will shorten it. Follow the aftercare we give you and talk to us before anything abrasive touches the paint.

If something goes wrong

Tell us within 24 hours of the work being finished and we'll come back and put right anything that's our doing. That's always our first answer. Where we're liable, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for that service. We're not liable for indirect losses such as lost time, rental costs or lost income.

Photos of your vehicle

We often photograph our work for our website and Instagram. Photos never include license plates, addresses or anything identifying you. Tell us before or during the appointment if you'd rather we didn't photograph your vehicle at all — that's completely fine and costs nothing.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's terms. If a payment is disputed, please talk to us first — it's almost always faster than a chargeback, and we'd rather fix the problem.

These terms

We may update these terms; the version in force is the one published when you booked, and the date at the top shows when it last changed. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana.
